■ Concept and Interpretation
This composition is part of the Thailand Game Jam X OST Composing Jam, the theme given was "Close to Me," with an illustration by Rewindze
Inspiring by examining the characters in the illustration, the two characters have a strong contrast, but they also share a close connection and bond. I imagined a story in a relaxing atmosphere on a mysterious planet, filled with vast forests, where an automation spacesuit and a young girl embark on a journey together, reminiscent of an adventure puzzle game.
■ About the Pieces
This soundtrack consists of two pieces of music, Electric_Sheep was composed for a piano quartet and solo synthesizer, reflecting the character of the automation spacesuit, which serves as a barrier between inside itself and the outside environment—floating and complex harmony. Lullaby was composed for solo clarinet and piano, representing the cheerful and bright character of the young girl.
Both Pieces were composed in the Classical genre and feature a small ensemble without percussion instruments, a style known as Chamber Music. The title was inspired by the sci-fi novel by Philip K. Dick.
■ Story in the Music Theory
From a music theory perspective, the two pieces are connected by relative keys (E minor and G major) and related time signatures. Electric_Sheep is in 6/8, and Lullaby is in 2/4, both based on two main beats per measure. My intention was to link the characters' story and convey the shared bond and sentiment between the automation spacesuit and the girl, even though the moods of the two pieces differ.
